Apply today! Join the UW IT Mentoring cohort
The UW IT Mentoring program is now accepting mentor and mentee applications for the fall 2022-spring 2023 cohort! Applications will remain open through Wednesday, September 28. UW-IT Mentoring connects newer UW–Madison employees with experienced colleagues in peer relationships that enhance skills, knowledge and experience.
The only requirements for being a mentor or a mentee are:
- A commitment to meet regularly with your match for the next year
- A willingness to collaborate in creating the best possible mentoring relationship for both sides
Why should I become a mentor?
- You’ve been in the IT field for a while and want to share your experience and knowledge with someone just starting out.
- You enjoy helping others set career goals, work through challenges and develop professional skills.
- You’re looking to expand your network or escape your silo.
- You benefited from mentorship in the past and want to give back to others who need help.
Why should I become a mentee?
- You’re new to campus or the IT field and want some personalized guidance.
- You’re interested in transitioning to a different specialty but don’t know where to start.
- You’re stuck in a silo and struggling to network.
- You need a sounding board for work challenges that you haven’t been able to work out on your own.
