Active Directory Migrations: July project update

The Active Directory (AD) Migrations Team has been working diligently to help departments migrate into Campus Active Directory (CAD). Here are some recent updates and milestones, plus a look ahead at what’s on the horizon.
Recent progress
- The team received formal approval of the decommission deferment process. We will begin sharing it with relevant departments over the next month.
- The team continues proof-of-concept work with Quisitive, DoIT and the Computer-Aided Engineering department. They have scheduled weekly meetings throughout the summer. The Social Science Computing Cooperative and Computer Sciences departments have joined the proof-of-concept effort.
- We finished the 1st of 2 workshops with the technical team. We ended the session with a ranked list of ways to improve our speed, from easy quick fixes to bigger, high-impact approaches. We evaluated these options based on how feasible they are and their potential impact. We’ll use this list as a starting point for more detailed collaboration and brainstorming with department stakeholders in the next workshop.
What’s ahead
- The project team will identify which departments have not yet chosen a migration path or established a timeline for their migration.
- We need to develop a process for handling exceptions and a policy for departments that choose to remain outside CAD and accept that risk.
- We will partner with department stakeholders to identify initiatives that will speed up delivery.
