Active Directory Migrations: August project update

Campus Active Directory
The Active Directory (AD) Migrations Team has been working diligently to help departments migrate to Campus Active Directory (CAD). Here are some recent updates and milestones, plus a look ahead at what’s on the horizon.

Recent progress

  • The team ran 2 brainstorming workshops to find ways to speed up migrations. Each session ended with a ranked list of improvement ideas, from quick wins to bigger, high-impact projects. The team will put some of these ideas into action over the coming months and check how well they work in November.
  • The team started early planning for moving to the new directory system with Computer-Aided Engineering, University Health Services Departmental Support and Housing Departmental Support. The team is on track to begin active moves in January 2026.
  • The project team moved the program dashboard to Google Dashboards to make it easier to use.

What’s ahead

  • The team is bringing on a dedicated project manager to coordinate all 3 Departmental Support migrations.
  • The project team will find out which departments haven’t yet picked how they want to migrate or set a timeline.
  • The team will create a process for handling special cases and a policy for departments that choose to stay outside the central directory system and accept that risk.
