Active Directory Migrations: April project updates

The Active Directory (AD) Migrations Team has been working diligently to help departments migrate into Campus Active Directory (CAD). Here are some recent updates and milestones, plus a look ahead at what’s on the horizon.
Recent progress
- The team finalized the Resource Redistribution process and documentation and will begin socializing it with departments over the next month.
- The Helically Symmetric eXperiment and Medical Radiation Research Center have committed to Quisitive-guided migrations. Both are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025, using advisory sessions in the meantime.
- The team identified and confirmed the device count for all departments participating in the migration program, regardless of their migration status. This will significantly enhance reporting accuracy and inform future planning.
- The team kicked off proof of concept work with Quisitive, DoIT and the Computer-Aided Engineering department. They have scheduled weekly meetings throughout the summer.
What’s ahead
- The project team will work to better understand which departments have not yet selected a migration path or established a timeframe for their migration.
- Future need: develop a process for handling exceptions and a policy for departments to accept the risk of staying outside of CAD.
- The Quisitive team will come to Madison on May 22 for structured meetings and activities in the morning and open office hours and social time in the afternoon.
